Short post: a thread that’s somewhat disarming in the violent vibrato of four (!) vocalists in European synth-pop. Here are the examples:
- WU LYF – Mancunian Ellery Roberts & co. absolutely slay it with a combination of unintelligible lyrics and wobbly vocals
- Holy Esque – Glaswegian band of few songs but shimmering emotion and wobbly vocals
- Wild Beasts – A wild bunch from northern England, this music sounds like it was bathed in sex and dried in luxury. Wobbly vocals abound
- When Saints Go Machine – Danish synthers jam on dark themes. There’s a Danish sensibility here – a very literal interpretation of English sardonics. Wobbly vocals – high-pitched, like Wild Beasts.
Any more to add? I like this quality in vocalists – it strengthens lyrics (usually) with unusual depth.
